"Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D" at PALEYFEST on March 23, 2014. After dominating the box office with "The Avengers" and the "Iron Man," "Thor," and "Captain America" franchises, Marvel returns to prime-time network television with its first series in over thirty years, teaming with sci-fi darlings Joss and Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen to create "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." on ABC.
This William S. Paley Television Festival live event honors "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," the action-drama series spun off from the film franchise about the top-secret adventures of the government's Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement, and Logistics Division.
Actor Felicia Day moderates the following panelists: creators/executive producers Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen; executive producer/writer Jeffrey Bell; executive producer Jeph Loeb; and cast members Clark Gregg ("Phil Coulson"), Ming-Na Wen ("Melinda May"), Chloe Bennet ("Skye"), Brett Dalton ("Grant Ward"), Iain De Caestecker ("Leo Fitz") and Elizabeth Henstridge ("Jemma Simmons").
The panelists touch on such topics as: fan reaction to Agent Coulson's death in the 2012 film "The Avengers" and resurrection in the series pilot; laborious attempts by the writers to plan out the first three seasons; and Bennet’s "secret past" as a teen pop star in China.
Questions from the audience then lead to a discussion of the following topics among others: Loeb being inspired by his father's storytelling gifts; if the show's original characters will appear in future Marvel feature films; and red tape causing the absence on "S.H.I.E.L.D." of such Marvel characters as X-Men.
